Independent Director magazine

Independent Director is a periodical of the Independent Directors Association. Independent Director has been circulating since 2001.

Association members and partners, including Russian and foreign practitioners, board members and top managers in leading companies, corporate management consultants and experts, as well as government figures, discuss on the pages of the magazine topical issues in corporate management. The magazine is a forum for opinions on important aspects of the work of boards of directors and the role of independent directors in private companies; the magazine also considers urgent issues of legal regulation of corporate management, analyzes business case studies and the development of trends in corporate practices in Russia and the CIS.

The goals of the publication

1. To relay across the territory of the CIS and Russia cutting-edge Russian and international practices in the field of corporate management and the work of boards of directors.

2. Provide IDA members with a forum to express their opinions on key corporate management issues, the activities of boards and the role of independent directors in a company, and in this way to organize a productive exchange of experience, opinions and knowledge among successful practitioners.

3. To inform IDA members about the results of the Association’s work, and future plans.

The publication includes the following sections:

Persona. Leading Russian and foreign practitioners, with experience of work on board of directors, including as independent directors, explain their positions on current corporate management issues, the work of boards and the role of independent directors in a company.

IDA News. This rubric contains chronological reports about events, achievements and the results of the work of the Independent Directors Association.

Events. Articles about the most important events, held by the Independent Directors Association.

Our projects. Information about current and future projects of the Independent Directors Association.

The Director’s opinion. Op-ed articles, penned by managing directors and board members of leading Russian and transnational companies, focusing on the practical issues of corporate management.The section also features interviews with Russian and foreign directors.

Topical issues. This section offers articles on key aspects of corporate management, as well as materials outlining the opinions of 3-4 practicing directors on 2-3 discussion topics.

Expert Opinion. Analytical reviews by leading experts on narrow, focused issues of corporate management, and the practical functions of boards of directors, and of independent directors serving on such boards.

Corporate practice. This section includes case studies of the leading Russian companies, describing in detail the functions of corporate management and the prospects for development of corporate management systems.

Opportunities. This section informs readers about events, held jointly with the Independent Directors Association and dedicated to corporate management topics, the work of boards of directors, and other questions that are topical for members of the association.The section also explores different methods, including the use of information tools, to enhance company performance.

New members of the IDA. This section lists new members of the Independent Directors Association.

The readership of the magazine Independent Director includes owners, board members and top managers of Russian and transnational companies.

Frequency of publication: 4 times per year, each quarter.

Print run: 1500 copies.

Distribution: Independent Director is distributed among members of the Independent Directors Association, and IDA partners, at Association events, and to interested non-members by subscription.
